Muhlenberg County High School and Middle School Percussion
MCHS Percussion students must perform in one of the primary band classes, i.e., Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Percussion Class or Middle School Band to participate in Percussion Ensembles.

 
MCHS Percussion Ensemble: The MCHS Percussion Ensemble is directed by Rick Gardner.  It consist of members from grades 9-12.  It is open to all percussion students in any of the current performing ensembles.  Students that perform in the Marching Band Drumline and play another instrument in Concert Band or Jazz Band are also invited to play in the Percussion Ensemble.  The ensemble will begin rehearsal in November of each year and perform at Solos and Ensemble Festival and Spring Concert.  This ensemble may make other public appearances as invited.  Members of the percussion ensemble also receive individual instruction on solo literature and preparation on All-District and All-State auditions.
 
9-10 Percussion Class and Ensemble: The 9/10 Percussion Class meets at the East Campus Band Room during 3rd block on all A days.  The percussion class is instructed by Chris McGee.  He is assisted by Rick Gardner.  The class studies percussion fundamentals and technique, marching band, percussion ensemble literature, preparation of solos and ensembles literature and study of All-District and All-State etudes.
 
Muhlenberg North Middle School Percussion Ensemble: The Muhlenberg North Middle School Percussion Ensemble is directed by Rick Gardner.  The ensemble is open to all 7th and 8th grade percussion students.  The students receive instruction in percussion fundamentals, technique and ensemble literature.  The ensemble will begin rehearsal in the fall and will practice after school.  They will perform at Solos and Ensemble Festival and Spring Concert.  Members of the percussion ensemble also receive individual instruction on solo literature and preparation of All-District auditions.
 
Muhlenberg South Middle School Percussion Ensemble: The Muhlenberg South Middle School Percussion Ensemble is directed by Rick Gardner.  The ensemble is open to all 7th and 8th grade percussion students.  The students receive instruction in percussion fundamentals, technique and ensemble literature.  The ensemble will begin rehearsal in the fall and will practice after school.  They will perform at Solos and Ensemble Festival and Spring Concert.  Members of the percussion ensemble also receive individual instruction on solo literature and preparation of All-District auditions.
 
Marching Band/Drumline: The Marching Band Percussion Section is directed by Rick Gardner.  They begin organizational meetings and rehearsal in January of each year.  The 2009 Band Camp Staff and Summer Staff included Alex Brunt, student at APSU and Katie Gardner, student at U of L.  Other marching band percussion staff members are Jon Gossett and Barry Duvall.
